Distribution system operators (DSO) are obligated to support the operators of transmission systems (TSO) in the maintenance of the electrical power system’s security and reliability upon the TSO’s request.
According to the large number of DSOs in Germany measures to eliminate hazards and disturbances should be carried out as part of a cascade. In this respect the RNG is partly a first level DSO and partly a second level DSO; the RNG’s network control is carried out in two control rooms.
In order to properly implement the cascade if necessary an appropriate preparation is needed. For that purpose a “communication exercise” with all involved parties is planned and executed.
In the first half of 2017, German distribution system operators refined their view of the future role “DSO 2.0.”
The digital transformation creates the potential for growth through customer orientation and regionalization.
