Large Scale Solar Energy Program in Mexico (DKTI Solar)

In 2015, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) commissioned GIZ to implement the Large Scale Solar Energy Program in Mexico (DKTI Solar) within the framework of the German Climate Technologies Initiative (Deutsche Klimatechnologieinitiative DKTI). The Program pursues a technology-oriented approach (photovoltaic and solar thermal) for the introduction of large scale solar energy in the Mexican market.

The objective of the program is to improve the technological, financial and organizational conditions for the application of large-scale solar energy in Mexico. The main areas of intervention are: 1) support to policies, strategies and regulation; 2) technology and innovation; 3) promoting market development; and 4) institutional strengthening in solar financing.

This short-term consultancy will focus on reviewing the current situation, allowing the International expert to understand the Mexican context and propose solutions and recommendations to specific problems already identified in the field of data collection, processing and publication of solar PV statistical data. It shall generate a document with the elements that will contain the methodological guidelines to collect, process and publish statistical data useful for monitoring the progress specifically of photovoltaic solar energy (small, medium and large scale), adapted to the context of Mexico, and that is replicable to other renewable energy sources.
