Strategic regulatory management

A large number of small and medium-sized energy utilities have joined together in an effort to prepare for regulatory requirements. The project, which builds on an earlier project aimed primarily at interpreting, and checking the plausibility of, data to be provided to regulatory authorities, is designed to assist participating companies in preparing for the challenges of revenue-cap regulation and to support them strategically in the first years of such regulation.

Along with supporting participating companies operationally with regard to all regulatory issues, the current project’s focuses include providing strategic support for influencing of future revenues and costs. With the help of a process-cost benchmark, the project is identifying potential for reducing the resulting network costs. In addition, the project is analyzing the latitude provided by revenue-cap regulation and is assisting companies in making the best use of such latitude for their own interests.
