In his work as a student assistant and as a bachelor and master at the Institute of Electrical Systems and Energy Economics (IAEW) at the RWTH Aachen University, Kilian also dealt with the regionalization of decentralized generation plants and electrical consumers.

Gerald Blumberg’s main topics include issues at the interface between grid and market in the tension triangle of energy economics and technology as well as regulation. In the course of his scientific research, he dealt with the interdependencies between flexible market participants in the distribution grid and the energy market, with questions of market design as well as long-term energy system modeling and scenario design.
As a former team leader for renewable energies and grids at the Chair of Energy Economics, Gerald was particularly involved in the project “SDL-Zukunft” (SDL Future), where he was instrumental in developing a proposal for the introduction of a reactive power procurement system to implement the European requirements in the context of the Electricity Market Directive.
At E-Bridge, Gerald focuses on clients such as grid operators, utilities and investors, currently e.g. on the practical implementation of Redispatch 2.0 processes as well as questions regarding grid expansion planning. In addition, Tjacka has established and filled ad-interim positions for function managers and data managers in the energy-trading sector. Tjacka worked for over three years in the Dutch energy sector, and thus he has a first-hand knowledge of that sector’s processes and systems.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Bus worked for five years in the area of solid-state physics and conducted research into materials for innovative energy systems and semiconductor applications.

In the framework of implementing EU directives she supported more than 20 transmission system operators and power exchanges in establishing a joint IT platform enabling continuous intraday cross-border trading across Europe (XBID). At present she supports the EU transmission system operators in amending and enhancing the intraday IT platform as well as a cooperation of more than 50 power exchanges and transmission system operators in operating and further developing the day-ahead market coupling. Philipp-Matthias Heuser is elaborating the integration of hydrogen into the energy system and energy markets. His work focuses on the development of gas markets and transport networks, sector coupling and regulatory analyses for the implementation of the national hydrogen strategy. Furthermore, Philipp supports national and international projects in project management.
He gained expertise and experience in this field during his doctoral studies, where he designed a concept for a worldwide hydrogen infrastructure based on renewable energy. In addition, Philipp participated in the “Energy System 2050” project of the Helmholtz Association, where he was involved in the study “Wege für die Energiewende – Kosteneffiziente und klimagerechte Transformationsstrategien für das deutsche Energiesystem bis zum Jahr 2050“ (German version only). During her studies at RWTH Aachen University, Leona focused in particular on innovative solution concepts for a greenhouse gas-neutral energy transition. Leona has extensive technical, economic and legal expertise in the assessment of energy projects.

Dr. Christian Kraemer is Principal Consultant and coordinates E-Bridge’s expertise in the field of distribution grids.
He did his doctorate in Aachen on the future power plant and storage parks and during this time dealt with numerous energy industry issues for transmission system operators (including grid development plans) and industrial companies.
For E.ON, Christian held various strategic roles in the distribution grid business, where he shaped the industry positioning for DSO 2.0 and the innovation process in the German grid business, among other things.
He gained extensive operational experience at E.DIS Netz GmbH, where he first built up an innovation and digitalisation team and was later responsible for system management. In this role, Christian was responsible for secure grid management in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, introduced a new grid control system and the Redispatch 2.0 process, and made system management fit for the future.

During his work as a research assistant at the Institute of High Voltage Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University, Philipp worked on models and simulations concerning market coupling and power plant scheduling. During his internship at PNE AG, he worked on processes for the planning of wind farms and market analyses.

In his diploma thesis, Ivan focused on the assessment of flow-based capacity calculation models taking into account uncertainties. David Myška has worked in the energy sector more than 14 years and is with E-Bridge since July 2016. His work is mostly linked to European power market design and cross-border market integration.
Before joining E-Bridge, David worked as COO at Joint Allocation Office created by the merger of CAO Central Allocation Office and CASC, capacity auction offices providing services to 20 TSOs. Prior to the merger he was employed as Business Development and Contracts Manager at CAO. While working at CAO, David was convener of 8 CEE TSOs Working Group for 5 years dealing with cross-border capacity auction rules, auction office processes and CEE cross-border market design. He was also the moderator of the ENTSO-E drafting team for 2 years, which successfully prepared harmonized European rules for forward cross-border capacity allocation. At CAO, David was in addition responsible for all contractual arrangements with TSOs, market participants and IT services providers, including respective budget aspects.
Prior to this, he worked at ČEPS, being responsible for cross-border trade and contracts for purchase of ancillary services and representing the Czech TSO in various international projects.

Oliver Obert has been working in the energy industry since 2001. Oliver is a proven expert in regional TSO coordination. In this environment, he has successfully supported TSOs in Central and Northern Europe in establishing Regional Safety Coordinators (RSC). In many projects he has developed business processes and specified IT systems and supported customers in their implementation.

Annika Schurtz deals with strategic and operational issues of future grid management and transformation processes for distribution grid operators. Currently, Annika is focused on the implementation of Redispatch 2.0 for German distribution system operators.
Before joining E-Bridge, Annika led the research group “Distribution Network Planning and Operation” at the Institute for Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics at TU Dortmund University, where she was responsible for the acquisition, planning and implementation of research projects and their coordination. Accompanying her research activities, Annika completed her dissertation on “State estimation methods and their contribution to congestion management in medium voltage grids”.
Annika has experience in the development of monitoring strategies for active distribution network operation in the lower voltage levels. Furthermore, she worked in cooperation projects with German DSOs on cross-grid level coordination of flexible feeders and consumers and their activation mechanisms.

Henning Schuster is Managing Director of E-Bridge and also heads the “DSO” division. In recent years, Henning has been instrumental in the development and implementation of many pioneering concepts in the energy industry, such as redispatch 2.0, flexibility markets, time-variable grid tariffs for the integration of e-mobility, grid planning with flexibility (peak capping).
Henning has a sound technical, economic and strategic understanding of the interactions in the energy industry. He wrote his master thesis on “Determination of design relevant grid separations for the European transmission grid”.

Tuncay Türkuçar, Managing Director of E-Bridge Consulting, has been working in the energy-sector for more than 20 years. Tuncay is currently advising transmission system operators in strategic projects. Tobias Veith joined the E-Bridge team in November 2011 and focuses on topics of European market design, regulation and competition and cross-border trade.
In previous projects, Tobias worked for different European TSOs, NRAs and producers with dedicated experience as an economic expert for market design and auctions. He has specific knowledge in the fields of control and balancing energy markets in Western European countries (CWE), Ireland and the UK as well as in the Nordics. Beyond, Tobias is working on topics of RES integration into the current energy system and models for integrating intermittents into control energy markets. Based on his practical experience, Tobias regularly publishes in academic journals on these topics.
Before joining E-Bridge, Tobias was a project manager and research fellow at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW), Mannheim, Germany. He primarily participated in projects on regulation and competition issues for the German government and for European enterprises. Today, he is supporting E-Bridge as “Associated Senior Consultant”.
Since February 2014, Tobias is also Professor of Energy Economics at the University of Applied Sciences Rottenburg, Germany.

Matthias Wessels mainly advises network operators, energy supply companies and manufacturing industry and ministries.
Focus of his work is the operation of electrical distribution grids. His work covers a wide spectrum: From the future role and strategic challenges of German distribution grid operators (“DSO 2.0”) to asset management for single and multi-division companies, the future-oriented design of network planning and operation – driven by decentralised flexible plants, among other things – and also the further development of corporate processes through digitalisation in the grid business.
Matthias links the topics to a target operating model for future-oriented DSOs, also for closed distribution grids. In addition, he advises in the non-regulated area on the topics of new business models and electromobility, among others. Within the thematic focus areas, he bridges the gap from strategy development to targeted implementation.
Matthias` technical expertise is flanked by his determination and strength in implementation, which is particularly applied in the management of multi-client projects and project programmes.
Before joining E-Bridge, Matthias worked at Soptim AG on software solutions for the energy sector and contributed to scientific projects at the Institute for Electrical Systems and Energy Economics at RWTH Aachen University.
Matthias studied industrial engineering at RWTH Aachen University. He is certified in PRINCE2 project management (PRINCE2®).
